Missouri History Museum: Architectural Collection

Drawings of approximately 2500 different projects in St. Louis and the nation as well as job files, specifications and correspondence of local firms and architects. Drawings are primarily working construction drawings, although the collection contains some renderings and preliminary drawings. MAJOR COLLECTIONS: Pfieffenberger Collection, ca. 1870- 1900. ca. 200 projects,; Kuhlmann Collection, 1901-ca.1980. ca. 1400 projects starting with the founding firm of Mauran, Russell and Garden. Special permission must be obtained from Kuhlmann Design to conduct research in this collection; Robert Elkington, FAIA Collection, ca. 1955-1990. ca. 300 projects; Frederick C. Sternberg Collection, ca.1950-1990. ca. 300 projects; Architectural Design Associates, ca. 1950-1990. ca. 50 projects; William A. Bernoudy Papers, 1949-1988. ca. 200 projects. Special permission must be obtained in order to conduct research in this collection; Alfred Majers Collection, 1919-1975. ca. 150 projects. Contains drawings of projects by the firms of Study and Farrar, Study, Farrar and Majers, and Majers and Allen.
