Saint Louis University, Vatican Film Library

Collection strengths include microfilm copies of manuscript codices from various European libraries. Represented are all areas of humanistic studies and the history of science from classical antiquity to the early modern period. Attention has been given to gathering related research materials, as: manuscript catalogues, text editions, and scholarly studies of manuscripts. Still the focus of scholarship and collection development are the manuscripts of the Biblioteca Apostolica Vaticana, from which roughly 80% of all Greek, Latin, Arabic, Hebrew, and Western European vernaculars manuscripts have been microfilmed for the collection. The Vatican Archives are not included. Also on microfilm in the Library is an extensive collection of documents on Jesuit work in Latin America, the United States, and the Philippines, mainly in the colonial period.
