St. Louis Art Museum

The Archives, located in Richardson Memorial Library, is the institutional repository for the Saint Louis Art Museum’s historical records. Materials date from the 1880s to the present, and cover such topics as the 1904 World’s Fair, construction of the Museum campus, exhibitions, educational programming, administrative / financial oversight, and collections care. Holdings chronicle museum history from the founding of the Saint Louis School and Museum of Fine Arts, through its development as the City Art Museum, to its current activities as the Saint Louis Art Museum. The Archives houses a small number of collections extrinsic to institutional programming. These include records associated with gallerists, art collectors, artists, and scholars whose work intersected with Museum collections, personnel, or administration.
